Revolution Void Album "Thread Soul" Released

The latest Revolution Void album Thread Soul has been released under a Creative Commons license granting free distribution. The album Thread Soul features guest performances by Lucas Pickford (Brian Blade, Tiger Okoshi) and Cochemea Gastelum (Fred Wesley, Robert Walter’s 20^th Congress).

Thread Soul was released to the public on 7-25-2006. Since its release, the album has rapidly spread through P2P networks such as BitTorrent. It is released under a Creative Commons Attrib-NonCommercial license which allows users to freely modify and distribute the album, as long as they do not use it in a commercial endeavor.

Here is Wikipedia's overview of nu-jazz and related terms listed below. It is a good introduction to the genre with some artist recommendations that are fairly typical, though exemplify the genre quite well. Of course there are many names to add to this list, and I see that the only artists listed are electronic artists creating jazz (rather than the other way around, e.g. Brad Mehldau or Kurt Rosenwinkel's electronic excursions). But, it is still a valid list and good intro to the style. Right now the nu-jazz entry is only a stub, so here's hoping it gets expanded with more useful "Encyclopedic" analysis of the history, progression, nuance, mores and tropes of the genre. Wikipedia Nu-Jazz entry (excerpt):

Like the terms electronica and jazz, nu jazz is a loosely defined umbrella musical style. This mix is an eclectic blend of tracks spanning quite a few genres. Overall, it's a nice track selection and pacing. A lot of bumpin' breakbeat grooves and funk, jazz and soul influences.
